As the wheel begins to turn towards spring, the land begins to thaw from slumbering winter.

Beneath the cold surface, roots stir, sap rises and warmth quietly returns. Imbolc marks this subtle awakening, the first soft promise of spring. A time of renewal and gentle re-emergence. This treatment is created in honour of that threshold moment, when winter loosens its grip and life begins to move again.

This ritual inspired by multitudes ~ the Celtic and pagan festival of Imbolc, the Chalybeate Spring in St James’ Gardens and my dear friend dancing in devotion to it, submerging her feet into sacred waters. All springs are devoted to the Celtic goddess Brigid and so we call upon her during this moment of healing as the guardian of sacred waters and holy wells.

During this treatment you will submerge your feet into a bath of holy spring water embellished with seasonal botanicals as an offering to Brigid and the restorative qualities of water. You will also experience a pine and juniper foot scrub to cleanse and warm the feet, areas which are often subject to cold during this time to encourage circulation.

The treatment continues with a herbal poultice massage, interwoven with elements of deep tissue to release tension and restore flow. The poultice is crafted from herbs found in the cathedral gardens that inspire this work: nettle, dandelion, rose and yarrow, with ginger added for warmth and stimulation.

Herbal poultices have long been used to draw out stagnation and ease muscular tension, warm the body and support circulation, soothe inflammation and tired limbs, support detoxification through the skin. & gently awaken the lympatic & nervous system during seasonal transition amogst many other amazing benefits.

Nettle and dandelion nourish and cleanse, supporting the body as it emerges from winter dormancy. Rose offers heart-softening and calming properties, while yarrow brings balance and protection. Ginger provides a gentle heat, encouraging movement, comfort and vitality.

This is a ritual of thawing ~ for the body, the breath and the deeper rhythms within ~ offering a slow, grounded return to warmth, movement and spring.
