Lughnasadh, or Lúnasa in Gaelic, marks the first of the three great harvest festivals celebrated on August 1st. It is a time to celebrate all we have sown and reaped throughout the waxing year. Now in the waning year, we begin to gather the first fruits of our labour ~ berries ripening & grains golden and ready for harvest.
This seasonal treatment is designed to cool and soothe the body as summer heat peaks and cools. This is a full body lymphatic drainage massage using blackberry seed oil & cooling peppermint upon the skin to refresh and soothe from high summer temperatures.
Lymphatic drainage has many great benefits, from aiding the body's natural detoxification system to remedying sleep. It can reduce puffiness, swelling and help manage conditions such as lymphedema, lipedema & arthritis. If you find yourself suffering from summer swelling ~ this could be for you!
The focal point of this massage is the cysterna chyli, a part of the primary lymph vessel (the thoracic duct) situated within the abdomen, meaning most of the work will be upon the stomach. We will move from here to the legs and back to actively flush the lymph to the nodes and beyond. We will also work on the arms, chest, face & back of the body over the course of one hour.
